Police apprehends bomb vehicle - Mannar
An explosive laden van prepared for a suicide mission was apprehended by the Police this morning, 11 August, along with 20 claymore mines at Mannar.
The claymore mines had already been fixed to the vehicle (Hiace van) when it was apprehended in general area Uppukulam, Mannar, sources added.
Three suspects have already been taken into custody and handed over to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) for further interrogations. According to Plice sources, two suspects are residences of Mt'Lavinia while the other is from Mannar-defence.lk-pix-Dinamina

"The ability to hold elections no sooner terrorism was defeated and thus providing the opportunity for democratic expression to the people of Vavuniya and Jaffna, is also seen as a victory of our policies to stabilize democracy", said H.E the President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (Aug 9).

The Southern Provincial Council (SPC) was dissolved effective mid night yesterday after Governor,Kumari Balasuriya released the gazette that notified the dissolution.
The official life of the Council was due to expire on August 15.The Chief Minister of the SPC, Shan Wijayalal De Silva requested a dissolution by a letter addressed to the Governor.The election to the SPC would likely to be in October,official sources said.news.lk
