Following specific information given by the State Intelligence, the 'Q' branch Police arrested J. Thambi Annan alias Daniel, 46, a resident of Kilinochchi, The Hindu reported citing the Director General of Police, K.P Jain. The 'Q' branch Police stating the importance of the catch said that the suspect has been heading the procuring arm of the outfit and had played an instrumental role in smuggling warlike items, explosives from India and other parts of the world to the LTTE. SRI LANKA-The LTTE violated its unilateral ceasefire, firing ten artillery arounds from poonarin towards Muhamalai today(29).Two soldiers were injured in this attack, Military sources said. Bangladesh has proposed the creation a fund to fight climate change in densely populated South Asia.
Regional experts on climate change began two days of talks in Dhaka on Tuesday, ahead of a meeting of environment ministers from countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
"We want to find a common stand among the South Asian countries and will raise our voice together against the perils of climate changes," said Raja Devasish Roy, head of the Environment and Forest Ministry of Bangladesh, after opening the experts' meeting.
SAARC, comprising Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will adopt a common strategy at the Dhaka meeting, officials said.
