South coastal train derails Two die and several injured

he coastal train had derailed on the Hikkaduwa to day. Two deaths were also reported while the remaining injurered were rushed to the Galle Hospital. The train was travelling from Kandy to Matara.-

SLArmy captured five locations in LTTE 14 base camps

SRI LANKA-The S.L Army has launched captured five locations in LTTE 14 base camps in the north area in Welioya yesterday (08), (MCNS) says.

SRI LANKA-'The last few months have seen an increasing number of violent attacks targeting civilians. Lives have been lost in all communities and in all regions of Sri Lanka. My thoughts and condolences are with the victims and their families. There is no justification for practices which targets civilians or puts them in danger", the British Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch-Brown, said condemning the two bomb blasts on Friday which left 24 civilians killed and over 50 wounded.

"There is an urgent need to end the senseless loss of lives caused by such acts of violence and for all parties to the conflict in Sri Lanka to take responsibility for the protection and safety of the civilian population," he further asserted.www.defence.lk

SRI LANKA-Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets bombed an LTTE leaders' gathering place located in the Puthukkudiyiruppu area around 1.20 this afternoon (June 7). Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara speaking to defence.lk said that the targeted location was an identified command centre of the LTTE located 3km North East of the Puthukkudiyiruppu .

Hospital sources said that 21 people including 13 males and 8 females have been killed. Over 50 civilians have been injured and they have been admitted to the Kalubowila and Lunawa hospital for immediate treatments.
