Intense fighting in north of Palamathalan; a senior sea tiger leader killed; 13 LTTE bodies found

SRI LANKA-Troops of 55 Division, operating in north of Palamathalan to rescue the innocent Tamil civilians held in no fire zone, have already breached the LTTE built earth bund and continued their offensive beyond the earth bund by last evening, 29 March, inflicting heavy damages to the enemy, latest military report received from the battlefront said.- defence.lk
Navy destroys 04 Sea tiger boats killing 26 sea tiger cadres on board in the seas off Chalai and Mullaithivu

SRI LANKA-During two fierce gun battles that erupted in the seas off Chalai and Mullaithivu, Sri Lanka Navy destroyed four Sea Tiger boats killing twenty- six Sea Tigers on board, around midnight on the 29th and at dawn on the 30th March 2009.
The units of the Navy's elite Boat Squadrons, the SBS and the RABS, based at Chilawatte and Chundikulum, intercepted and engaged two clusters of sea tiger boats with heavy Naval gunfire on two separate occasions. Three sea tiger boats were destroyed in the seas off Chalai around 29th midnight and the other sea tiger boat was destroyed in the seas off Mullaithivu during the wee hours today (30th March).
During the fierce gun battles that ensued, the Navy inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy repulsing their desperate attempts. The LTTE sea tiger boats were desperately attempting to speed off when the Naval personnel targeted them directing heavy Naval fire. As a consequence, all four sea tiger boats were completely destroyed engulfed in a ball of fire.
Monitoring of the enemy transmissions has revealed that several LTTE leaders including Maran have been killed. One sailor sacrificed his life and three Naval personnel including one officer received injuries in the incident.
Sri Lanka Navy exercises maximum precautions when confronting LTTE Sea Tiger movements in order to maintain zero casualties to Tamil civilians who also use the seas to flee into cleared areas. A well-fortified Naval blockade has been put in place to cut off all sea tiger movements in the seas off Nayaru, Mullaithivu, Chalai and Chundikulum. This has forced LTTE sea tigers to make desperate attempts at breaking through the Naval defences even at the expense of heavy cadre and vessel losses.

Shows suspects....

A combination of sketches issued by Pakistani police shows suspects allegedly involved in Tuesday's attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore March 4, 2009. Pakistani investigators were following "important leads" to identify who was behind the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Wednesday. The ambush in broad daylight, and the apparent ease with which around a dozen gunmen escaped after a firefight with police of almost 30 minutes, sent shudders through a world fearful of nuclear-armed Pakistan's inability to contain rising militancy. Suspects arrested in the SL Cricket attack

Four suspects were arrested here Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team that left six policemen dead and six players and their assistant coach injured, a media report said.
The Geo TV reported that police in Model Town have arrested four suspects after the attack. "Arms have been recovered from two of them," the report said.
The police also seized an explosive-laden jacket and weapons from a rickshaw.
Six policemen were killed and at least six Sri Lankan cricketers injured Tuesday when heavily armed gunmen attacked the team cavalcade when it was on its way to the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore. The cricketers were later evacuated by an army helicopter as Sri Lanka cancelled its Pakistan tour.
Salman Taseer, governor of Pakistan's Punjab province, said the attack in the heart of Lahore was the handiwork of the same terrorists who struck in Mumbai in November last year.
"It was a planned terrorist act on the pattern of the attack on Mumbai. I believe the same terrorists are involved in both the incidents," Taseer told reporters.

Photographs, Videos found in terror TV station bare dark secrets

SRI LANKA-Sri Lankan soldiers of Army 58 Division have made a startling discovery exposing an abominable conspiracy against Sri Lankan citizens. The soldiers have found several recent photographs and video footage in a building earlier occupied by the LTTE terrorists showing certain South Indian politicians in LTTE camps in Wanni.
According to defence sources in Puthukkudiyiruppu, these photographs and videos were discovered by the infantrymen of 6 Gemunu Watch (6GW) last afternoon (1 Mar), while engaged in clearing operations at the captured LTTE satellite communication center, in Puthukkudiyiruppu West.
Defence.lk special correspondent in Puthukkudiyiruppu said that there were a number of photographs showing some of the South Indian politicians championing tribalism, actively participating in terrorist activities in Wanni.
Leader of MDMK party in Tamil Nadu , Mr. Vaiko had been photographed in LTTE uniform, firing pistols with LTTE leader V. Prabhakaran, delivering brain-washing lectures to the LTTE terrorists, and having discussions with Prabhakaran.
"There were photographs of several other South Indian politicians involved in LTTE activities including Mr. Nadumaran", he said.
Meanwhile an analyst speaking to defence.lk, expressed his surprise at the shameless relationship, these South Indian politicians have with the convicted murderer of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Ghandhi.
" Prabhakaran has called Mr.Vaiko as the person who would link Tamil Eelam to Tamil Nadu one day...these photographs reveal that the plans for a greater Tamil Eeelam had been already on the way" , the analyst said.
The analyst further said that Mr. Vaiko's ceaseless attempt to save the LTTE from a military defeat might have reasons other than his so-called interest in the Sri Lankan Tamils.
"Perhaps, he is afraid of the dark truths that would surface with the end of the LTTE", he added.
Meanwhile, an LTTE attempt to launch a national TV station for its utopian state of Tamil Eelam has been exposed by a video tape found at the captured satellite communication centre.
According to our correspondent, the video tape contains a trailer created for the "National Television of Tamil Eelam" with news segments produced in Tamil, Sinhala and English languages. The news segments had been produced similar to the news telecast of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
"When watching the news segments produced by the LTTE, it is clear that their intention was to reduce public support in the South to counter the terrorist move"
" They had been copying the news segments produced by embedded media teams of government and private TV channels and tried to counter them with false news segments produced by the LTTE propagandists", defence.lk correspondent said.
"There were many leading news items based on comments made by treacherous politicians in the South to belittle the commitment of the war heroes, aimed at character assassination of the President, Secretary Defence and the chiefs of the Armed Force, etc...it seems that the LTTE leadership like some politicians in the South, has been desperate over the public support enjoyed by the government"
Meanwhile, a senior member of an embedded media team inspected the captured satellite equipment and said that the LTTE was planning to transmit its programs via satellites. He said that the items were donated by Norway to the LTTE during the UNP government in 2002. According to him, the satellite station that the LTTE had here was similar to the national earth stations at Piduruthalagala and Padukka.
