SRI LANKA- Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has declared that Sri Lanka is on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

37 Tamil civilians seek protection with security forces- Pulmoddai

SRI LANKA-37 Tamil civilians belonging to 9 families Thursday (Sep 25) have sought protection with security forces at Pulmoddai, South of Mullaittivu.

The civilians including 15 children, 8 females and 14 males have braved their way along the choppy Eastern waters on two boats into the liberated territory, who are reportedly locals from Mullaittivu, military sources said. defence.lk
Direct flights to link Lumbini, Sri Lanka

SRI LANKA-President Mahinda Rajapaksa held discussions with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on the sidelines of the 63rd United Nations General Assembly Sessions on Wednesday afternoon.

During the meeting the two parties agreed to start a direct air link between Lumbini and Sri Lanka said a communique issued by the Presidential Media Unit.

President Rajapaksa on behalf of the Sri Lanka Government agreed to assist Nepal’s health sector by improving health facilities within WHO Co-operation and provide further training in Sri Lanka for Nepal’s health sector personnel.-

Tigers must abandon arms, enter democracy for talks


SRI LANKA-
The Government will only be ready to talk to the LTTE when it is ready to commit itself to decommissioning its illicit weapons and dismantling of its military capability, and return to the democratic fold, President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the UN General Assembly yesterday.

SRI LANKA-President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the 63rd Session of the United Nation`s General Assembly spoke a in Tamil at the beginning of his address.

The president said that Both Sinhala and Tamil have been used through the centuries rich in literature, and widely used in Sri Lanka, with recognition as Official Languages
He expressed hope that the bonds between the Sinhala and Tamil people of Sri Lanka will grow stronger and remain a major force for its future development.

Air Force raid LTTE hideout
