SRI LANKA: Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya resigned from office yesterday (9). In his letter to the President tendering his resignation Minister Karu Jayasuriya has said , “ we rejoice at the success achieved in demolishing the power of terrorists in the Mulaitivu and the Kiliinochchi districts and in liberating the Eastern Province from the grip of terrorism.

“We provided you with the necessary Parliamentary strength for your bold initiative to do so without bequeathing the problem to the next generation. While appreciating your leadership in that effort we also derived psychological satisfaction by being participants in that process.” dailynews
